According to the official hypothesis, on July 27, 2010, at approximately 8:00 am rifle platoon commander, Senior Officer at a military base and Lieutenant Artak Sinar Nazaryan shot himself to death with the rifle attached to him at the combat base near Chinar village in the RA Tavush region. According to the examination results, Artak Nazaryan died of “the acute disorder of the brain vital functions caused by the perforating bullet injury to the head – the bullet struck him in the oral cavity near the palate and exited through the left side of his nape”.

Artak’s relatives do not believe the official hypothesis as they think that Artak was killed. According to the expert Ruben Martirosyan, many acts of fraud and irregularities were committed during the preliminary investigation which made it possible to register the murder case as a suicide.
