Volodya colonel arrested
Following a closed court session lasting several hours, Karabakh War veteran Colonel Volodya Avetisyan was remanded in custody on fraud charges. He is suspected of having solicited $2000 from someone to have his grandson exempted from military service. A request by Avetisyan’s lawyer, Ara Zakaryan, to release him on bail was rejected on the grounds that he might then commit a further crime. Avetisyan had participated in sit-down protest actions demanding that the government pay greater attention to the social and economic needs of former servicemen who fought in the Artskah War.In Armenian.
