According to the non-official information, temporary soldier Arman Avagyan, who served for 13 months, was in a combat base on July 10, 2010 when the incident occurred. Commander Vahe Hovnikyan went to the base and saw Arman standing a few meters away from the watchtower. An argument started, and the 25-year-old commander hit the soldier on the head with the butt stock of the rifle. As a result, Arman fell down, hit his head on the stone and died. There are disagreements over the exact time of the incident occurred. The soldier’s father Arsen Avagyan said that the incident occurred at 12:00pm, however according to the other sources it happened between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm. According to another source, the deputy commander for armaments, noticing that the guardsman was not in the base, scolded the platoon commander Vahe Hovnikyan. The latter, checking that A. Avagyan was supposed to be in the base, called him and hit him after which Arman hit his head on the concrete tile and died on the spot. The victim’s mother Mrs. Ruzan who saw his son’s head injury thinks that the injury was definitely received from upward to downward. In this case the injury could not be caused on that part of the head from falling down.
